The Covid Summer of 2020!

Dear Ones,

Summer is here and it’s heating up on a number of levels. When it is 100 degrees in the Arctic, and the permafrost is melting before our very eyes, it is another huge wake up call for serious climate action. In many states, Covid19 is dangerously on the rise due to many not wearing masks, social distancing not being observed, and opening way too soon in many cases. The fight for racial justice is heating up; protesters, including my son and three granddaughters, stood on hot, humid days in front of the White House declaring their support for Black Lives Matter. Now is a crucial time to stand up and speak out for what is important to each of us and for our country.

To stay cool, focused, and clear in the midst of all this, we turn back to our commitment of a consistent yoga practice done with earnestness, (Abhyasa) yet also done with acceptance of what is happening now along with a sense of surrender to a greater energy. (Vairagya)

Meditation has been the mainstay of my yoga practice for over 40 years, helping me to maintain “my cool” but also giving me the strength to stand tall and speak out when necessary. I am glad to keep offering my weekly 40 minute Sunday Zoom Pranayama & Meditation Class. I am also now taking registrations for my December Meditation Retreat, though much remains unknown in the months ahead. Jamaica also remains uncertain in February, but more on that next month.

My Zoom Yoga (asana) Class will be moving to Tuesdays at 1:00. This is because beginning July 4, I’ll be teaching inside the Oxford Community Center where we can easily socially distance. The Intermediate Class will be on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:00 and the Beginners/Advanced Beginners will be on Mondays from 1:00-2:15. The link to register is https://oxfordcc.org/events/#classes.

I look forward to seeing many of you in some way on the mat or on the cushion during this last hot summer of 2020. Stay cool my friends, be well, and dive deep into the refreshing waters of your practice.

Namaste with Blessings of Love,  Suzie
